Among the challenges we discussed is the the medical "herd mentality" where all animals are treated the same medically rather than individual evaluations and treatment plans. New arrivals are treated with new vaccines, worming & dental treatments, "preventive" drugs and surgical procedures with prior diagnosis, testing or concern of past interventions.
